The Bank Heist Bandits

It was a warm, dusty afternoon when the sable collie pulled up to the Roper family's ranch house in his shiny new Ford Explorer. Stepping out of the SUV, he adjusted his Texas Ranger badge and strode up to the front porch.

Scout Roper opened the screen door, eyeing the collie curiously. "Can I help you, Ranger?"

"Scout Roper? I'm Ranger Sunny," the collie replied in a serious tone. "I'm investigating the bank robbery that occurred in Roper City yesterday. I have reason to believe the bandits may be hiding out somewhere in this area. I could use the help of a local rancher who knows the terrain well."

Scout whistled. "Well, that's mighty serious business. I'd be glad to help however I can. Why don't you come inside and tell me what you know so far."

Sunny followed Scout into the house. The collie described the brazen midday heist and shared what few leads he had. Together, they spread out a map of the county on the kitchen table.

"There's an old abandoned mine north of town that might be a good place to lay low," Scout suggested, pointing at a spot on the map. "Lots of hidden tunnels and exit routes."

Sunny nodded thoughtfully. "That's mighty helpful information, Scout. I think I'll start searching there."

"Want some backup?" Scout offered. "I'm pretty handy with a rifle, and I know those hills like the back of my hand. Let me just leave a note for my wife, Morgan, and then we can head out."

"I'd be much obliged," Sunny said gratefully. "Let's ride."

The Texas Ranger collie and the rancher set out together in Sunny's Explorer to track down the robbers, the sun gleaming off the SUV's paint as they kicked up a cloud of dust down the country road. With Scout's knowledge of the area and Sunny's keen investigative skills, the bandits wouldn't be free for long. Justice would soon prevail in Roper City once again.
